AVAproject Fusion:
Create Custom Reports

The powerful data extraction and reporting tools offered by AVAproject Fusion extend the capabilities of AVAproject and offer a heightened level of business intelligence and insight

AVAproject provides the ability to create a myriad of valuable reports, focusing on every aspect of the project life cycle. From detailed architectural drawings, machining sheets, elevations, catalog cuts, etc. to the wealth of project management resources via the many material list configurations - AVAproject provides resources for every stage of the detailing and estimating process.

Despite the rich trove of reporting tools offered in AVAproject, there are also those who want something more. That extra bit of detail, data presented in just that specific format, or a report organized in just that particular way. It's for those companies and individuals that AVAproject Fusion was designed.

In addition to providing an integration platform to allow data to be exchanged with an endless variety of accounting/ERP systems, AVAproject Fusion is first and foremost a powerful data management tool - one that allows data to be extracted and organized for the purposes of reporting and analysis. In data processing circles, this is known as "Business Intelligence".

The Fusion Material List

AVAproject Fusion takes the familiar AVAproject Material List to an entirely new level. The "Combined Information Pool" is a "fusion" of all the Openings Schedules, Hardware Groups, Accessory & Misc. tables and other related data sources all available in a single, comprehensive table of data.

Users can browse this table in AVAproject Fusion using a familiar AVAproject interface. As always, columns can be inserted from the standard AVAproject library - but with a huge added feature. In addition to all the standard columns, all related data columns from the various source schedules are also offered. For any given line in the Material List, absolutely any column from the associated Hardware Groups and Openings Schedules can be added; thus making the options available for the creation of custom reports virtually limitless.

Data Filters - Selecting The Data You Need

Data Filters allow users to select portions of an entire data set (the Fusion Material List, for example) to be extracted and used in a specific report. (In traditional database parlance, this is known as "executing a 'query'".) This typically involves constructing a command string in accordance with a very complex and structured language; the most common of which is "SQL" ( "Structured Query Language").

Rather than forcing users to learn SQL, AVAproject Fusion offers an innovative and far less difficult way to accomplish this task - by employing a revolutionary "near-English" query builder that allows users with absolutely no knowledge of SQL nomenclature to extract the data they need.

The Filter Builder (depicted below) walks the user through the entire process, step by step.

Any column from the AVAproject library can be selected, along with an operator and the value to compare it against. Comparisons can even be made against other columns. Since the data is being drawn from the entire Combined Information Pool, selections can be made based on data from any table (material list, openings schedule, hardware groups, etc.) contained in the project.

Report Builder - Showing The Data You Want See

AVAproject Fusion features a powerful report builder that allows users to customize the presentation of project data based on their specific needs and requirements.

Similar in concept to the creation of AVAproject viewstyles, the Fusion Report Builder allows users to design and tailor the layout of their reports. Every detail from column selection to data grouping and sort orders can be selected. Report can be created as required, or store in library to be reused when needed.

Reports can be created as required, or stored in a library to be reused when needed. Further, report layouts can be combined with any number of data filters to produce an endless variety of report configurations.

In addition to being printed, a custom report can also be exported into a variety of commonly used data formats including delimited text, MDB, Excel, or XML.
